Riding the wave of sustainable branding

Driven by a future-focused vision, North Sails is a fashion and lifestyle brand that has sustainability at its heart. A brand that is on a journey to give a voice to the ocean in pursuit of regeneration and protection. We were approached to ride the wave and build a rhetoric that clearly expressed the sailing brand’s conscious attitude, yet avoided unintentional greenwashing: something to which today’s consumers are acutely attuned.

Solutions

Drawing on our stellar research skills and creative flair, we produce newsletters, landing pages, product descriptions and printed media in a flexible combination of English and Italian that respond to the brand’s three tone of voice values: Real, Expert and Responsible. With the dangers of greenwashing in mind, we are meticulous in our selection of “green” terminology and phrasing, making explicit claims backed by concrete details, such as the brand’s use of recycled fabric, organic fibres and sustainable manufacturing processes. However, because this is also a brand that feels most at home when out at sea, we are mindful of North Sails’ adventurous spirit, incorporating this facet of its DNA into our copy through language that is fresh, dynamic and powerful.
